Ear, Nose and Throat surgery, or Otorhinolaryngology, is the study, diagnosis and treatment of a multitude of diseases of the head and neck.
Treatment may be medical (with medicines) or surgical. Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) conditions affect people of all ages.
Most children have had ear infections by the time they start school and 1 in 5 have problems with their hearing. 1 in 4 adults suffer from hayfever and allergy and this is often poorly treated.
As we age we often lose some of our hearing and may suffer from noise in the ear (tinnitus) and dizziness which can lead to falls.
Otorhinolaryngologists also treat cancers of the head and neck along with all conditions affecting hearing, taste, smell and balance as well as problems with the voice, breathing and swallowing.
Professor Owen Judd is a highly experienced Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist (ENT Surgeon). He has specialist expertise in all aspects of ENT, but especially disorders of the brain and inner ear (Neurotology) and the Voice (Laryngology). He is one of only a few surgeons in the country to perform minimally invasive Endoscopic Ear Surgery.
